Subscriptions Overview

The Velocity subscription module enables your company to collect recurring revenue by scheduling automatic order renewals. A subscription is a collection of orders that are automatically processed on a predetermined interval.

You can manage subscriptions in the subscriptions section of the customer details page.

Start Subscription

The workflow to start a subscription is the same as placing an order in Velocity. On the New Order page, select the * Recurring order* option to convert your order to a subscription.

Tip

In Velocity, subscriptions can only be started and managed by Velocity users. Storefront Customers cannot interact with the subscription system.

Customization

Each subscription has a predefined number of renewals, with each renewal representing one future order. Renewals are processed on a one-month interval.

You may optionally set a custom date for your first renewal. By default, the first renewal will process one month from today's date.

Limitations

Orders processed as part of subscription cannot use store credit or terms payment methods.

Manage Subscriptions

To manage a customer's subscriptions, navigate to the customer details page and select the subscriptions section. This page will show the customer's current and past subscriptions.

Tip

If an order was placed as part of a subscription, you can manage that subscription by selecting go to subscription on the order details page.

Edit Subscription

To make changes to a subscription, select the … button and select an option from the menu:

  • Select update payment method to change the saved card used for future instances
  • Select update shipping method to update the shipping method for future instances
  • Select update addresses to update the shipping and/or billing address for future instances
  • Select adjust items to change the quantity and/or price of items in the subscription
    • To remove a product from the subscription, set the quantity to 0
  • Select cancel to prevent the subscription from processing any future instances

Edit Instances

Expanding a subscription will reveal the subscription's past and future instances. To edit a future instance, open the … menu:

  • Select reschedule to update the selected instance's date
  • Select skip to skip the selected instance
    • Skipping an instance will prevent it from being processed, but will extend the subscription by one instance
  • Select cancel to cancel the selected instance
    • Cancelling an instance will prevent it from being processed without adding any additional instances to the subscription
  • A skipped or cancelled instance can be restored by selecting restore

To add additional instances to the end of a subscription, input the number of instances you want to add and select the + button.
